Ghostly Halloween Crafts
Here are two ghoulish ways for your preschooler to decorate the house for Halloween.
Ghostly Ghoul Magnets
Materials:
- White glue
- Googly eyes
- Scissors
- Wax paper
- Black construction paper
- Magnet disc
- Paint (optional)
Lay wax paper on the table, waxy-side up.
Place a single magnet disc on the wax paper.
Next, use the white glue to make your ghost. Start by using glue to trace the outline of a ghost around the magnet, so that the magnet is positioned in the middle of the outline.
Next, fill in the entire ghost with glue, covering the magnet and making the glue fairly thick.
Cut out a mouth from black construction paper.
Gently press googly eyes and mouth into the head of the still wet glue ghost.
Let the glue dry for several days.
When dry, peel glue ghost from wax paper and decorate the fridge.
Variation: glue will dry relatively transparent, but colourful ghosts can made by first adding a little paint to the glue.
Ghost and Pumpkin Chains
Materials:
- Markers/crayons
- Glue or tape
- Scissors
- Construction paper (white, black and orange)
- String (black if possible)
Draw 3 ghost shapes on white construction paper and 3 pumpkin shapes on orange paper (Shapes can vary in size, but should be able to fit within a 4" x 4" square).
For the ghosts, include a rectangle tab coming out of the ghost's head.
For the pumpkins, make the stems slightly longer than needed.
Next, cut out your ghosts and pumpkins and decorate with markers or crayons, cut out paper shapes, googly eyes, glitter, etc.
Cut a piece of string long enough to fit all 6 shapes, evenly spaced about 1"-2" apart.
Attach the shapes by folding the tabs over the string and gluing/taping into place.
Repeat process to make as many chains as you want.
Variations - try making bats, witches, vampires and other Halloween icons.
