Cheesecloth Ghosts
A Halloween Party Planner craft
Materials:
- 2 litre pop bottle
- 2 straws or sticks
- 1 balloon
- White glue
- Cheesecloth
- Black felt
- Scissors
- String
Start with a 2-litre pop bottle (as the body)
Tape two straws or sticks horizontally at the neck of the bottle for arms.
Blow up a balloon and tape it to the top of the bottle for the head (don't blow it up too big, just in proportion to the body). Color won't matter since you'll be popping the balloon and removing it later.
Dilute white glue in water (the less diluted the quicker it will dry but it makes it harder to hang and mold).
Dip a piece of cheesecloth into the diluted glue and then drape it over top the balloon. You may need several sheets of cheesecloth for one ghost. Arrange the folds of the cheesecloth in different ways. Also make sure that there are some pieces that hang off the edge of the table (when it dries this will be the way the ghost 'stands').
Using black felt cut out holes and a mouth and glue them onto the head.
Allow the glue and cheesecloth to dry. It may take 30 minute or so depending on the glue and its dilution.
Pop the balloon, and separate the ghost from its form, pulling out the balloon, bottle and stick. The cheesecloth will have dried in the shape you set it.
You can make minor adjustments by bending some of the cloth.
Suspend the ghost form a string or sit it on a table.
