Tug of War: Elephant

A Crazy Quilt craft 

Materials:

  • Sock
  • 4 toilet paper rolls
  • 4 elastic bands
  • Cotton batting/scrap
  • Fabric
  • Paint
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Construction paper
  • Pencil
  • Sticker circles
  • Paper reinforcements
  • 2 fuzzy pipe cleaners

Paint toilet paper rolls and let dry.

Wrap one elastic band tightly around sock part way between heel and toe and one around toe of sock (this forms trunk).

Stuff remainder of sock with cotton batting/scrap fabric until it is full.

Wrap pipe cleaner tightly around open end of sock to hold stuffing in place.

Cut small slits in one end of each toilet paper roll.

Fold these flaps back and use to glue legs to underside of elephant's body.

Wrap one elastic band around sock at heel.

Wrap one elastic band around sock about halfway between heel and trunk.

Cut large rectangle from construction paper and fold in half.

Draw large semi-circle with pencil.

Cut out, unfold and separate.

Draw half-circle with marker on each for inside of ears.

Fold straight edge of each ear under and slide under elastic band at heel of sock on both sides of head.

Stick paper reinforcement to circle sticker and repeat for second eyes.

Stick one eye to each side of head above trunk.

Stick fuzzy pipe cleaner under elastic band that is near front of head on each side for tusks.
