Flitter the Plane

A craft from the Crazy Crafts DVD Collection 

Materials:

  • Paper towel roll
  • Egg carton cup
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Stickers
  • Bristol board
  • Hole puncher tape
  • Craft stick/pencil
  • 2 bottle caps
  • Plasticine
  • Paper fastener

Cut three slits into one end of paper towel roll.

Cut two big slits on the opposite end of paper towel roll.

Tail:

Fold Bristol board rectangle in half and fold again.

Cut tail shape through all four layers.

Open shape and refold so sides two and three are together. It will now look like airplane tail.

Push tail into the end of the paper towel roll with the 3 slits. The folded section goes in top.

Wings:

Cut large wing shape from Bristol board.

Slide into big slits at front end of paper towel roll.

Landing gear:

Fold long narrow strip of Bristol board into three sections.

Open and punch hole in outside sections near fold.

Fold little flap back at each end to form tap.

Tuck tabs in each of two slits that hold wings and tape.

Push craft stick through both holes of landing gear.

Push plasticine inside bottle caps.

Push bottle caps onto ends of craft stick for wheels.

Propeller:

Cut rounded bowtie shape from Bristol board for propeller.

Punch hole in centre.

Trace end of paper towel roll onto Bristol board for circle.

Cut out circle leaving tab on each side.

Punch hole in centre of circle.

Use paper fastener to fasten propeller to circle.

Tape propeller tabs to front of airplane.

Cockpit:

Tape egg carton cup to top of airplane.

Put stickers on cup for windows.
