Refreshingly Cool Summer Treats

Beat the heat this summer with these refreshingly cool summer treats! These recipes are good to do with children three years of age and older. Please make sure that an adult handles the blender.

Fresh Fruit Popsicles

An all-time favourite in our house, here’s a deliciously refreshing frozen treat made from fresh fruit and juice!

Ingredients:

  • Orange or pineapple juice
  • Bananas
  • Blender
  • Fresh seasonal berries
  • Plastic popsicle molds

Wash and chop all fruit.

In a blender, add whatever berries you want (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries,

gooseberries, etc.), in whatever combination you want.

Add 1 banana

Pour in about 1 cup of juice (orange or pineapple, not from concentrate).

Blend until mixture is slushy (add more juice if needed).

Poor mixture into plastic popsicle molds and freeze until ready to serve.

Experiment adding other fruits – such as fresh oranges or pineapples, melons, peaches, plums, nectarines, etc.

Snow Cones

Remember those Snoopy Snow Cones makers from days gone by? Well, here’s a no-miss snow cones recipe for the whole family to enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • Ice cubes
  • Blender or ice shaver
  • Flavoured syrup

Blend ice in a blender or shave cubes in an ice shaver.

Scoop ice into a bowl.

Stir in flavoured syrup and enjoy!

Note: Try making single flavour snow cones (such as cherry, raspberry, caramel, chocolate, etc.) or mixing and matching two or more flavours.
