Treats to Keep Your Family Hopping: Chick ‘n Egg Nest

This cute concoction makes a great gift and an even better Easter treat!

Ingredients:

  • Pre-made chocolate cups
  • Green food colouring
  • Muffin tin
  • Food colouring
  • White chocolate chips
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Shredded coconut
  • Mini Easter chick and egg candy molds

Place pre-made chocolate cups in a muffin tin.

Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips slowly in a double boiler, over a low heat.

Pour melted chocolate into mini candy molds and chill thoroughly.

Next, melt white chocolate chips the same way and add food colouring, if desired.

Pour melted white chocolate into mini candy molds and chill thoroughly.

While waiting for chocolate to chill, mix shredded coconut and green food

colouring in a bowl, until the coconut takes on a green colour.

Let coconut shreds dry and then fill each chocolate cup with the dried coconut flakes.

Place chocolate eggs and chicks in the nest.

Remove nests from muffin tin and individually wrap in colour cellophane paper to give as gifts (or serve directly).

Alternatively, purchase pre-made sugar or chocolate mini eggs and chicks.

Note: These recipes are suitable to do with children four years and older. Please make sure that an adult handles all the heating components.
