Bath Time Fun

While your tot may not always love to take a trip to the tub, there are some things that you can do to make it a more pleasurable experience for them and yourself.

  • While water that is too cold might not get them clean, water that is too hot can be a painful experience. Remember that what is a good temperature for you might be too hot for your tot.
  • Ernie had his rubber duckie to keep him company, so there is no reason why your tub should not also come stocked with the appropriate floating toys for your little one.
  • Many parents look at shampoos with heads of cartoon or movie characters on them and see a gimmick. Many toddlers see a reason to wash their hair. What brand of shampoo you use is your decision, but if having a shampoo bottle with C-3PO or The Little Mermaid on top makes your child look forward to their bath, it might be worth considering.
  • For safety reasons, always make sure to not fill the tub too high and always keep you eyes on your little ones at all times. Accidents happen at home all the time and tubs can be slippery places.
  • Don't be grumpy when you put your tot into the tub. If it feels like you are cajoling them into it they will resist. Instead, do the best you can to have fun too so that it can be seen as an extension of playtime.
