Sleep training - Day 2

posted on: 07:52 PM September 08, 2007

18 minutes today (knock wood).

I think we made a mistake not having anything to occupy our time while they cried today. My wife cried several times yesterday before we put the boys down and I did felt a little queasy myself, so we made sure we had things to do. My sister helped by returning from her trip overseas to pick up her car. Jump starting the dead battery took up about 10 minutes. Today, we had nothing and it sounded worse than yesterday.

Earlier we looked at bumpers; the boys are big enough to kick the crib railing during their struggles with sleep. I was a little reluctant to get bumpers, given that I had always been told not to put anything unnecessary into a crib. We spent a couple of hours picking them out, came home and looked up the risks associated with bumpers on the internet. We'll be returning the bumpers sometime next week.

But B-boy really kicked up a storm today. They both appeared to be unharmed from yesterday, hopefully in a few days, we won't even have to consider bumpers.

Too much risk? What do they suggest in place of bumpers?

Nothing, apparently Babies can't generate enough force to hurt themselves. Easy for them to say.
