Anybody Have Something Against Backyardigans?, A poll due to the curios nature ofa user

This show has quite a few problems:
Tasha is very rude (tsk, tsk)
the first season was fine, but the new seasons are violence promoters

If anyone can relate, it is greatly appreciated

In what way is she rude?? Vulgar type rude or just impolite??

If it is a vulgar type of rudeness then the show should be edited appropietly.

If it is the general impoliteness that nearly all children show, ie lack of manners, asking(loudly) 'why that person is fat/ in a wheel-chair/ is black/ does not speak English/French", then IMO that shows how like a normal child the character is.

In the second scenario, it is up to us as PARENTS to discuss with our child/ren, what is wrong and how to correct it.
Always say"please/thank you( s'il tu/vous plait,? merci ) etc.

Expecting the TV to show only well behaved children would result in very boring shows.

Which episodes in particular??

I can only think of one- The Great Pie aka the ninja one.

IIRC it shows a formuarised Matrix style action sequence.

If you could let me know any other I will look out for them and will discuss this with you.

Here's one: a foam sword mercandice came out after the pirate episode. Another: the spy episode? It's obvious whats wrong with that.

I had a wooden sword when I was a child. That had nothing to do with The Backyardigans. I have seen foam swords in the dollar shop since 2000. IAgain I don't think it is connected.

My son LOVE's the Backyardigan's!! I've never really noticed any of these things mentioned, we really just listen to the songs and I dance him around to the music.

In fact it was no different to when I played Jane Bond as a wee lass.

Okay I've just discovered there is a double episode called International Super Spy. Is this the one you meant SuperGuy?

I haven't seen it yet and I don't currently own the DVD.

International Super Spy (parts 1 and 2)
The very first two-part Backyardigans episode (often shown as a single hour long episode), and a faithful parody of James Bond movies, it also has an opening in the style of the episode rather than the regular ones. Pablo is a smooth international agent who likes his apple juice shaken and drives a red automobile/jet-ski/helicopter/airplane. He is hired by Miss "T" to protect three containers from the evil "Lady in Pink" and her sidekick, Tyrone. The song "The Lady in Pink" features an elaborate 007-style music video of sorts and pop singer Cyndi Lauper as a guest star.

I have nothing against Backyardigans.
Yes, I agree Tasha if a bit rude, except if everyone was happy and cheerful,
your children will not learn ANYTHING about the real world.

Many children are like Tasha, and the other backyardigans show how to deal with people like Tasha. Life isn't all about being happy, and joyful.

I agree with you Mommyrella.

Children need to learn manners and how to cope with people . The idea of Stepford Children on kids tv shows is disturbing.

As parents, we need to teach and show our children the most apprioate ways of acting in a given circumstance, be it holding the door open for some-one who needs it or how to act at a wedding/baptism/funeral.

I believe that DD1(10) and DD2(6) have good manners. I am teaching DS(3) the same. Now when some-one teaches that older lady to say "Thank You" after one of my children have held the door for her is another matter.

I don't find Tasha rude. I've seen the First, and Second seasons. Little bit of Third seasons, but I didn't see the fourth seasons. Maybe she was rude in the Hawaii episode, I don't see nothing wrong with her.
