    Dora, Spanish vs English

[SIZE=7][COLOR=purple]Ok so my kids love DORA but I have a little problem with her. My kids are learning to speak and Dora throws in Spanish all of the time. My kids don't even know English half of the time without having another language thrown at them. I think it is confusing for them to have the two languages in the show. I understand that knowing different languages is important but my kids are 3 and I don't think they understand what Dora is talking about half of the time.

Its spanish because this show is produced in the US. I think it would be great if there was a Canadian show produced that taught kids french. (personally i like the spanish)

Dora annoys me to no end. If I wanted my kids to learn another lamguage, I would teach them another way. She annoys them, too.

    Yes, Mr. Sherman, everything stinks.

The DVDs have English/Spanish or French/English soundtracks.

The school my DDs attend K-6 teach French/English/Spanish  and the Spanish teacher tells me of so many parents who think watching Dora/Diego = learning Spanish!

Many shows, when translated to english, oftem lose a lot in the translation, so watching Dora is not the best way to learn Spanish.

    Dora, Spanish vs French

Yes!! I totally agree. In French Dora actually teaches English... I do not understand why in English Dora teaches Spanish. This  is quite sad since as how we live in a bilingual country, I would imagine that the Canadian Government should try to invest money in shows like that in order to invest in its future.... On the other hand let's not forget that TV is meant to mainly be an entertainment tool, and let me tell you that Dora is quite entertaining to my 3 yr old son! If it taught French to would really be good for my son since we speak both at home and that I would like for him to start speaking more French with me!

Dora and Diego are produced by Nickelodeon, which is an American company and is catering to an American audience.

The DVds available here, at least in QC are dubbed Qc French and English .
