Check In!, A running talk about stuff board.

Hey guys, I noted quite a few of us are chatting up storms in other boards with other topics so I created this board so we can have check ins after the weekend and even morning ones where we can chat about whatever. Just thought it would be cool for all of us to get to know each other and chat about anything.

Even parents like to chat about different things too I guess. So here it is, enjoy and I hope it works!!!

PS, Would love some new people to introduce themselves and bring up what they wanna chat aboot...er, about.

ooo this is a good idea sahd. i will start. im in my late 20's and i just moved to alberta. still trying to make friends here but its kinda hard. its a small town and everyone seems to have all the friends they need. this is great place for people to chat and vent...lol. good news though, i have a friend comming to visit me from ontario for the weekend. should be fun.

Hi there..I'm a stay at home mom. Well I work P/T so that helps keep my sanity..lol. I'm in my mid 30's and have one child whom I love and adore.
I've found the Treeboards very informative and interesting.
Thank goodness for the internet to get parenting advise. It definately comes in handy.

    Hope to chat again!

You know I find that with my 14 month old son too!!! He is a common Curious George. He climbs on EVERYTHING and finds it nessecery to jump off of what he is on. Been to the doctor a couple times. But our doc says it's all apart of their learning and that is is very common, so we arent bad parents.

Hi Spiderman and Ekebear, where in Alberta are you Spiderman? A few of us regulars are from the land of opportunity too!!

Tonite I get to go curling and get away from the house (I have found my sanity really takes a good boost when I am away for a few hrs) unfortunately curling is the only sport iun town here. The bowling alley closed and hockey already started. Oh well!!!!!

Hello all. I am 27 and I am a stay at home mom from Ontario.

My son Mason, 21 months is a climber as well. He likes to climb up on the desk chair and "type" on the computer. He has even sent out a few emails just by banging on the keys. we have tried everything to keep him off the desk but he is such a problem solver that he always get up there. Since my husband is such a computer geek, we have decided to set up an old computer for him to play on and get him his own desk. We have a monitor that we can hang on the wall so he wont be able to hurt himself. I am hoping this will help him.

I am very lucky that he climbs down the same way he gets up there and doesn't jump off. But he is definatly a dare devil.

This is a great idea. Thanks SAHD

    I LOVE this Idea! ^.^
I'm 20 years old(21 in dec) My name is Missy
My daughters name is Emily she will be 2 in jan,
I live in Zurich ON and if u kno where that is GRATZ for YOU!
This weekend we got emily her bed... it was ALOT bigger them I remebered it... I thought it was a singel bed... its a singel n ½ or something. It was my brothers its like 6 years old. My bro bought himself a queen size n gave his old one to emily so I wouldn't have to buy her abed with baby #2 on the way ^.^ We also got his old tv n comp desk. my uncle came down too(my secdon fave uncle) and he's lending me a very speical cradle for the baby, its a cradle he made before his first son was born, he's going to be giving it to his boys when they have babies. So its VERY specal to me that he would let me use it, and not to mention, hes an expert wood worker.
So it was a fun weekend! Emilys tooh finally cut for me to notice that three more are trying lol.

Well first of all good for you missyemily!! The new teeth are so cool to watch comming in. And get as much free kid furniture from friends and relatives as you can. I know when me and my wife started out with new borns and then #2 we really needed the help.

I guess I have been on here for a while and not many people know what i'm about....other than a stay at home dad so here it goes.

I am 24 yrs old. I live in Strathmore (hick town) Alberta. I am will have been married for 3 years in November to my wife. We have 2 awesome kids. One is almost 3 (in Dec) and the other is 15 months old. I am a S A H D with issues. But thats another story. I am happy staying at home with the kids and thats all that matters.

Massonsmommy. You and me both sister. There is about 20 cm of snow on the ground, minus 12 and nothing to do outside right now. I do take my kids for a brief 10 min walk outside. Just to get fresh air. I bundle them up real good.
The only thing I can think of doing is to take them to an indoor kids playcentre. It is relatively cheap, and th kids just go and play and I get a bit of a break. Other than that there is nothing to do that I can think of.....especially when it gets down to -40.....which I hear it does frequently around here. Hope that helps. Oh and We watch Treehouse tv lots too!!!

I'm glad you all like the board, I just figured it could let us parents rant and chat and talk about whatever....so I'm liking how it's turning out..thanks guys!!!:)

missyemily, you are very lucky to receive that cradle. very special gift you have there. where is strathmore sahd? as far as winter WARM fun... we have just discovered the local pool. my daughter and i go swimming a couiple times a week and it only costs like 4 bucks each time. she will be starting lessons in the new year. the only crappy part is we have to walk there......brrrrr. but my hubby picks us up. we dont really mind the cold thouhg. we bake a lot too. building forts is fun. my daughter has a smalll tent that we set up every once and a while. its in the living room.change the toys up a little in the winter so the kids dont get bored. just store some away and bring then out again in a month or so. its like christmas for the kids....lol. more ideas would be helpful though, always looking for fun stuff. byw, did halloween sneek up on you guys? i cant beleive its here.

I love Halloween. This morning was insane. Thought I could successfully put 5 costumes and makeup on 5 kids all before 8:15am. Barely made it. Then just cuz I'm a genius (sarcasm) I got rid of my highchairs yesterday. Now I have 2 yr old twins demolishing my house. My neighbour and I took almost a week to childproof it beforehand. It's never been one of my strengths. Yeah, right now they are in bed, one's watching a Miffy, and 2 are at school. Finally, the Timmy's I've reheated twice is finally in my hand....

[B][FONT=Times][COLOR=orange]Strathmore is in Alberta about 50 km east of Calgary, YES I couldn't believe Halloween is here already. I just got my daughter dressed as A princess and we are off to the ,mall for trick or treating. I find baking is good too. My daughter loves to be the helper and stirs in the chocolate or the milk, its fun.

My daughter got to do some trick or treating before nite time. I did my normal tuesday stuff, cashing in the pay check, payin bills, doing the shopping, and everywhere we went the stores n bank was giving her candie! she's got half a McDonalds bucket full of candie already xD
I can't wait for tonite, this is the first year emily is going to be going trick or treating.

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE

I was a little disapointed yesterday when I found out my step son wanted to go trick or treating with his Uncle. We had planned to go out all together. Mason is still a bit to young to go out. But we are going to take him anyways just to maybe 2 or 3 houses. My neighbour and I worked hard to put his costume together so I don't want to waiste it in the house.

Thanks everyone for winter ideas. I live right near a comunitiy centre but I find that there are not that many things there that we would both be interested in. I guess I should really be thankfull there is no snow here.

Ours was GREAT!! My hubby dragged his butt off the comp to go.. so we didnt give out any candy xD. I didn't tink Emily would wanna go for a long time, but to my supirsed by the time we got home (and she was still wanting to go to more houses) we had been out for and hour and a half! it was past her bed time, she sleep great, she got a decent amout of candy that she can eat! the ones she cant i split between me n my hubby. It was wonderful weather over here! It was cool but it was more like late summer earily fall cool! It was a great first halloween for emily! we all had a blast!
