I am very disappointed with the new shows. My 2 1/2 yr old son and I used to cuddle up before bedtime and watch Little Bear and Franklin together. It was a really nice routine and very relaxing. I'm all for change, but I really don't like the new "in the garden" show and I can't stand the Wiggles. My son will watch them but not as long as the other shows. At that age you need routine and now its been changed on him. Please Please put it back!!!!!

Add us to the list of seriously disappointed parents and children regarding the new Treehouse lineup. We are willing to try new shows but these simply don't come up to what was previously a very high standard. Our 22 month old son is missing his Backyardigans to the point that we have it on automatic record so that he can still see it on the days it doesn't play. Our next step will be to simply get the DVDs for it, Thomas the Tank Engine and Max and Ruby and then we won't have to even bother with the TV if we don't want to. There are still a couple on regularly that he enjoys (Rolie Polie Olie and Wonder Pets) but not to the same degree. If he is going to watch TV I want to see him talking and dancing with it - not just sitting there. He added "yeti" to his vocabulary the other day; he isn't going to learn at the same level from these new shows - particularly since he truns away and finds something else to do.

We love the new line up! We love In The night Garden as well. We don't let our kids watch much TV and they don't even know that some of the shows exist. There are lots of other channels and lots of good shows on and change is good and take some time to get use to it. Dora and all the other shows are on tons of other channels as well so change the channel. If in the night garden is condsidered creepy I am curious to see what is thought about some other shows that are very disrespectful like Aurthor and some of the shows on the Disney channel that we do not let our children watch. They are not even allowed to watch the majority of cartoons out there because of the language and disrespectful mannor the charachters talk in.

I also agree, theses new shows are terrible and my daughter is very sad that Diego and little bear are not on anymore when she drinks her milk before bed. The show in the night garden is awful and we do not allow her to watch it as it makes no sense and doesn't teach kids anything, it upsets me that Treehouse would even consider this Telatubbie like show.   We will have to cancel treehouse and watch a different channel that has atleast fun and educational shows!

I do agree with what poeple have been saying. We had our evening routine down to a tee, now Little Bear is on later. Some other shows seem to have been nudged off the schedule, or put on at a time when the children are unlikely to be able to watch them. I myself get creeped out with "Boblins Goblins." I actually found their images and their bouncing and free-floating through space so disturbing that I changed the channel..I was watching by myself. I don't think messing with Dora and DIego's schedule will go over well in this household. We loved most of the shows in the "old" lineup, some of the new ones take getting used to, especially if they are replacing an old favourite's time slot. Jan

I just cannot understand all this so called disappointment with the new show line up! My kids are very routine and they are as young as 2 and they love the new shows. Maybe parents should start realizing that the TV is not and educational tool and that they are the educators not the TV or the shows you choose for your child. It is great that so many shows do teach a lot of things but what is wrong with having a show that is just good fun or is life all about learning and not having fun? ( you may be surprised at how much your child(ren) learn when they are just watching a show for enjoyment. I find the same things with all these so called educational toys. When I was a child we had none of this and we had no Treehouse tv either as a matter of fact we had no TV! It made us learn more from outside sources and we survived!

I feel I must re-iterate here that from reading the posts I believe the parents are just trying to voice the concerns of the children missing the shows they really love.  But the fact that parents sit and watch the shows with their kids and realize that some of these shows have very little educational value makes me respect their opinions all the more.  I don't think any of these parents are hoping the tv educates their child or replaces other things in life but if everyone has an active toddler like I do - they do need some downtime and treehouse is part of an enjoyable schedule for them.  Lately, my son has not watched treehouse at all in the evenings, I have had to get him DVDs of Toopy and Binoo and Max and Ruby - all sold by Treehouse interestingly!!!  So he can watch that at night.  The only thing he will watch on Treehouse at night is The Wiggles and Wonderpets and that's only if by chance the station gets turned on anymore as my son who is barely three will turn it off when shows like Go Gabba come on.

    I agree with you here.

So you do not respect opinions that disagree with yours? I've watched these shows and find very little wrong with any of them.

Indeed I don't expect the tv to educate my children any more than I expect it to educate me. However if I'm able to watch shows with no values other than the ones I endow it with so should my children.
I would never call for the removal of shows I don't like. A good job too as there would be a lot less "talent" shows on and I believe some people like them.

Bolding mine. As Treehouse( Corus) spent the money amking the programmes, they are entitled to sell them. Would you feel less offended buying Dora form Nickelodeon?

The fact you still don't know the name of the show you hate is somewhat surprising!

I agree with u.. We like the new line up.. took a few days to get used to, but we soon settled into the new routine. The new shows are not *creepy* (as put by most parents), just different to what we were used to. My friend Rabbit is an excellent show, and teaches a lot about friendship. DD loves it and always discusses what happened in it afterwards with me. Fifi and the flowertots is an old fav of hers from the UK, altho we dont like the accent change with the canadian voice overs :p  Ni hao Kai Lan is a good spin off of Dora, and we enjoy learning a new language. Yo Gabba Gabba is not a fav of mine, but DD enjoys it and gets up and starts moving, which is what its meant to do. In the winter months its a good work out.. And the Koala brothers is another fav of DD's... its calming and always teaches something good.

Thank you Treehouse for a healthy change, we love it. :)

... i understand that in the entertainment business you have to purchuse programs from places like nickalodean and other suppliers and have to pay each time they air, but to drop dora for british programing and other low budget programs leaves a bad taste in alot of peoples mouths.

Oh I'm shocked! Is your judgment based on Tellytubbies? Hardly the benchmark for British programming. There are a lot of quality British shows out there, so before you brand them all under the label of 'low budget programs' I suggest you check them out first...

    Exactly!

It's like me saying " If Caillou is the best represtive of  Canadian tv, it all must be equally as bad."

I know that there are a lot of good Canadian produced childrens tv as well as the ones I don't like. In the same way, there are lots of good, bad and indifferent Canadian tv shows for adults out there.

I agree that Yo Gabba Gabba is a bit ridiculous. Bad costumes, bad host and low budget. Is this the future of children's shows?? What happen to shows with good hosts like Fred Penner and Mr Dressup when we were young?

My youngest 2 love the show for thoses reasons. It makes a change from all CG stuff they watch.

Probably not. Children's tv goes through fads just like adults tv does. I believe sometime soon, very soon I hope, low budget 'talent" shows will no longer be the mainstream of adult viewing.

Maybe when you were young but some of us have a different ( non- Canadian) heritage. Mr Dress-Up is dead (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Dress_Up_%28album%29).
