    Re: New Shows

I have to agree you... my daughter and I got onto a routine around some of her favorite shows.  Max and Ruby, Backyardigans, Dora and Diego, just to name a few.  I would
cook supper while Diego was on, and now she and I have both lost that.  I know change is good, but I accept change if its for the better.  These new shows are horrible.  They
aren't very entertaining.  There even on the verge of ridiculous.   She is not entertained by them at all.  I can't even stand to watch any of them... and I watched  a lot of those
shows with her.  I can't wait to see them again.

I completely agree, not becauseI find them odd but because my 8 month old has no interest in watching them!  I use to be able to put him in front of the TV while I cooked or did laundry and his eyes would be glued to the tv and he would jump up and down and clap his hands and giggle.  Now, when those new programs are on he cries and doesn't want to stay in front of the TV. My son has never been a whiner and only cries if something is wrong.

We don't even watch Treehouse now.  The new shows have no interest for my son (for which I'm grateful, since they are not very good), and those shows that he did love to watch have been moved to times that are just really inconvient for us.  If he wants to watch something now, we pull out the DVD's.

I absolutely agree.  These shows are a disgrace to the stuff that used to be on.  What happened to the educational stuff that was on?  Dora and Diego at least taught things.  Instead they have these teletubbie imitations on now.  I am so disappointed with Treehouse

I agree 100% - the new shows are such total nonsense that even my 2 yr old grandson won't watch.  Bring back Little Bear at 8 p.m. - such a good show - at least people talk instead of babbling.

I put on the Knowledge network now for my girls as part of their evening "chill out" time before bed. They air the old favorites, Dora, Little Bear, Timothy (if they are up until 8:30). On the bell system it is channel 268.

It isn't so much the new shows that have me posting on the forum, but the lack of  advance notice (which may show I didn't have it on too much recently anyhow?) and the fact my cable company, Cogeco, hasn't caught up to it yet.  I was expecting Backyardigans at 0900 EST, Dora at 1630, Max & Ruby, and so on, but found other shows.  oops?

Fortunately, in Ontario, we have other choices, in the event there is something we do not like on:

-TVOntario, which is children's programming almost all day.
-Kids CBC, which is alright in the morning.
-Family Channel in the morning/early afternoon
-Playhouse Disney, which is a recent development, but not as educational IMO
-BBC Kids, which is a digital channel (gotta have my weekend classic Doctor Who, and no, they do not watch with me)

Between these options, if I chose to have my TV on all day, I could.  As it sits, when we have TV time, we have enough choice we are always able to watch something.

A lot of people are wondering who made these decisions, and of course it is the executives in programming.  Corus is the parent company, and their other channels also have links along the bottom of this site.  Based on some of the scheduling that we now have, I am wondering if they are trying to appeal to people in the Pacific Time zone, who were not able to see some shows in times that would be reasonably convenient for them (Backyardigans at 0600?  wow!  Dora at 1330?  That's great, if they're not in school)  Backyardigans (I know, I have them on the brain) are now on at Midnight here,  which means 2100 for a person in BC.  It may still not be ideal, but is certainly more apt to have an audience than those in say, Newfoundland, where it would be 0130!

I am wondering, personally, if it is time for Corus to appeal to the CRTC for a West Coast feed for TH, like they have with YTV.  If that was done, they would have an easier time programming for an entire 6-time zone country.  It may also provide these new shows an opportunity to find a time which may work best for them.

I completely agree.  My three year old wouldn't even watch the Night Garden show.  What happened to Franklin?  Each show has a good message or lesson attached to it.  Now it

is only on when it is too late for him to watch.  He doesn't watch much T.V. and now will be watching even less due to the programming changes.

I agree wholeheartedly.  The new shows are not as educational as some of the other ones.  Treehouse was a safe place to let my 4 year old watch TV.  The new shows are too young for him.  What happened to Diego?  He's awesome!  Would much rather have him watch that.

I totally agree - the new shows are very disappointing.  We are watching DVD's now around suppertime as In the Night Garden is so annoying!  Is there anywhere to go to formally complain?

Hijack... Are you me?? I lurves me classic Dr Who. The fact it's on so late is the only reason my kids don't watch it. I watched it from 1970 until the original run finished in 1989.

I also love the new series and Torchwood.

First of all, THANKS for putting THE WIGGLES back on.  Second - WTHeck is up with the new shows.  I don't know their names yet because the television has been turned off (by my 5 year old) when they have come on.  The one show with Upsy Daisy and that little wooden peg family was sickening as well as that one show with the guy who was all dressed in an orange jumpsuit and they have that so-called band that the guys are faking playing the instruments and dancing so bad that I almost passed out from the shock of such a pathetic show.  I am afraid to watch the other new ones.

I have to agree with most people here - these new shows are terrible and really stupid and my son will not be watching them.

Dora and Diego are 2 shows I don't mind my son watching because they are educational and he really likes the songs. I really can't believe they have pulled Dora from weekdays and removed the morning showing of Diego.

    Please treehouse reconsider these changes.

I agree that some new content was necessary. Max and Ruby and toopy and Binoo and Four Squares were all severely overplayed. What I don't understand is the logic behind decreasing the episodes of Dora and Go Diego Go. Those shows were likely two of the most popular in the whole scheduling. Actually, I probably do understand the logic...the new shows are cheaper than those popular ones. I don't know if the organizers thought about the fact that this age group likes consistency and sudden major changes to the schedule would not be appreciated.
