Keep it!! I love In the Night Garden.....My 22 month old daughter loves it........she has education all day and this is her down time, don't we all need that! For all those concerned about the educational value of this programme, you need to relax and teach your children that it is okay to watch a show just because we like it.My daughter learns from this that it is time for bed, it helps her relax and we always watch it together, it is our special time together before story time and bed. We do not need to be so concerned about this show. If you don't like it don't watch it.........There are lots of shows that I don't like but others do, it is called "Different Tastes"!!!

My 22 month old daughter loves in The Midnight Garden. Her points at the TV and talks to the characters. She gets ready for her bath and bedtime routine starts with this lovely show. Thank-you Tree House !

As much as my 7 month old daughter loves the show... And she gets this glazed over look when she watches it...
I kinda agree with everyone else... except I'd like to maybe see Wee3 in its place....
I really enjoy watching Wee 3 with my daughter... when she was colicky it was the only show that would calm her down...

    thanks

I totally agree on getting rid of In the Night Garden.  It has no purpose what so ever.  I don't like the one episode that is on right now where they are constantly loosing their pants...what's with that??

I'd rather have my son watch Mr. Rogers or Barney compared to this show.

Someone needs to re-evaluate this show and remove it.

So do you want the show to remain or not?? Because there are people who want to lose ITNG as well as those who want to keep the show posting on this thread.

Re: Get Rid of In the Night Garden

My daughter loves ITNG and we'd like to see it stay on air. I agree that it is a good show for a bedtime routine and is great for winding down.

There is no reason for all children's television programming to be "educational" and as many parents have pointed out, that is a our responsibility.
Perhaps many parents feel that all kid's shows that do not contain "informative" material should be off the air because of the guilt that comes with our increasing dependence on technology
to help us raise our children. If the show offends you and your children so very much, pull out a book, or crayons... no time for that?
Record "your" favorite show or download it and play it on your computer screen for that time period.
I have to admit that seeing there is a petition to remove this show (or the scheduling) is borderline absurd. Do something else with your time!
and by that I mean when the show comes on... Do something else with your kids. Or spend the time it took to create the petition to seek out other entertainment for your family

I agree with the parents that consider imagination equal to what is deemed educational and instructive.
This show offers a dream world in which children can watch characters hug, dance, play and generally have a nice time. I see no reason why that is so horrible for our kids.

I say to keep the show In The Night Garden. My three and a half year old daughter gets up EVERY morning at 6:30a.m to watch this show. Then she goes on and on about it every day.My 21 month old son also enjoys watching it too. When my husband and I watch this show we see a lot of similarities between this show and  The Teletubies. We have a lot of the Teletubies shows on tape as the kids are too young to have watched them on t.v.I'm wondering if you can buy the In The Night Garden on d.v.d yet.So I say to keep this show on air for sure.I would not know what to do with out it!!!

Re: Get Rid of In the Night Garden

I came across this blog when googling my daughter's favourite show "In the Night Garden". She's 22 mos old and we monitor her TV watching very closely. This is one of the few shows that we feel is both age-appropriate and constructive for her to watch.  We don't subject her to "educational TV", we prefer to teach her in person (reading and talking to her, making sure we eat dinner together every day etc. We love the show's slower pace, its depiction of a fantasy land (which encourages her imagination) and the narration and narrator are wonderful.  The little rhymes  remind me of old-fashioned nursery rhymes.  And my daughter relates to the characters, especially MaccaPacca who loves to wash things, as our daughter does.  Coincidentally one of her first spoken words was "wash", so you can imagine her delight on discovering her soulmate MaccaPacca!  Iggle Piggle is a close second, with his attachment to "blankie".  As I've already said we're not keen on our daughter watching a lot of TV but this is one of the few shows we feel good about her watching.  "Dora" and her little buddy Diego are loud and frankly a little arrogant, and would be a little more tolerable if it taught our country's second language and not that of the U.S., nothing against Spanish but French is my first choice for her learning a second language, thank goodness for TFO). On the same note, "Wonder Pets" is another favourite, again it promotes imaginative play and fantasy, which is so important.  Kids spend untold hours learning their ABC's, if there's anything we need to promote in our kids these days it's independent, creative thinking.  So, I vote to KEEP "IN THE NIGHT GARDEN".

DON't Get Rid of In the Night Garden

Come on people! Whats wrong with a little imagination show? Maybe this show stimulates your child in ways you don't comprehend.

As far as me and my 19 month old are concerned, the only shows that are good are Yo Gabba Gabba, Dora, Diego, Backyardigans, wiggles, miss spider  thank you 2008 ( how outdated is everything else!!!) Also great are the treehouse dancing shows that encourage excersize. He loves seeing other kids talk and jump etc.

The main problem with night garden is it should be aired around BEdtime like im sure it was designed to be, not at 5, when kids are totally active and should be stimulated with more educational stuff perhaps, but seriously, every show is very educational, so why not a little abstraction for the more creative kids. They have to relax once in a while too.

If anything, we need a larger variety of new, more current and modern shows.

My two year old and four year old love this show.  They love the different characters and yes, their funny names.  "Macca Pacca" is one of my two year old's first words and that's just fine with me.

I think the premise of the show is to calm, relax and stimulate imagination.  For those who claim that it has no "educational" value, I would say that TV is probably not the best place for that anyway.  If you want to educate your child at 7.30pm, take them away from the television.

Re: Get Rid of In the Night Garden

You want to get rid of In The Night Garden,(a nice calm relaxing good before bedtime show) and replace it with more Franklin and Little Bear (Both shows that are on like a Billion times a day).  My 19 m/o daughter LOVES this show and so do I. Its cute, its relaxing and she always looks forward to watching it. It teaches counting, sharing, playing nice with others, etc. But more importantly when did it become neccessary for Kids TV to be educational, especially for kids under 3?

My point is this. The definition of the show is "The programme is said by its creators to be designed to both relax as well as entertain its intended audience of one-to-three year olds." according to Wikipeida. It is not intended to be educational.
