Re: Get Rid of In the Night Garden: Without talking we have.......that's right an international language!

I hope that ITNG does not go off the air.  My 2 year old son LOVES this show.  He watches it every night before bed and when Iggle Piggle goes to bed so does he. My son in a very active little boy and this show helps to calm him down.  There are a lot of educational things about this show.  You just have to think like a child to see them.

There is nothing worng with having a how like this on television.  Not all shows have to be super educational.  If you don't want your child watching this, then turn off the TV, it is that simple.  The TV should not be your child main source of education anyways.

I really hope that this show does not go off Treehouse.

Why did you replace franklin and little bear with this terrible show?

Please delete it from your catalogue, and have all copies of the episodes banned from the station.
Put back Franklin and Little Bear in the timeslot.

    Anyone else out there agree???

I think for those who are complaining and want this show gone. Maybe you should go to the In the Night Garden website and read about the show and it's target viewers from the creators of the show. There is a lot of information there. And unless you are an expert on the growth and development of children's brains and imagitation you should get over it.

I personally find a lot of value in the show and just becasue you don't understand the language does not mean your child doesn't . Keep in mind this show was created for children between the ages of 1-4.

This show has become a part of my daughters bedtime routine. She has learned to say goodnight to the characters and when it is over she knows it is time for her to go to bed as well.

As an adult, I enjoy watching documentaries, the news etc. But once in a while, I also enjoy watching a funny movie or a sitcom that won't make me think as much. Sometimes, my brain just need to relax and unwind. It's the same thing for my 4 year old boy. I love for him to watch educational programs, and he enjoys them. But he needs to relax his brain too from time to time and he likes ITNG. One or two shows like that is all right by him and me.
And if one day I don't feel like he should watch it, my TV comes equipped with an "OFF" button.

Why must everything have an aducational valure for children to watch it?  Does every show you watch make your learn something?  I know most of the shows I watch teach me nothing, i watch them solely for entertainment value.

My 2.5 year old son suffers from oral motor delay.  He barely speaks, and yet with watching ITNG he has learned to say Makka Pakka and Goodnight.  So for me this does have an educational value for him.

Plus he really likes the show.  Why would I take that away from him?

Would you take a non educational toy away from your child?  I think not.

The television as well as Treehouse is not there to serve as a teacher for your child, you are!

Do Not Get Rid of In The Night Garden

These shows that are provided for our children to watch on treehouse are a great variety of educational, and imaginative shows.
If you really watch In the Night Garden, it is teaching you how to be caring towards others just like Franklin and Little Bear.
Our children should be aloud to enjoy watching a show, after all that is the whole point of watching a program.
Television should not be used to educate children that's what parent's are for.  These programs should be able to captivate our children and allow them to be able to imagine.
These shows such as "In the Night Garden" allows our children to become creative.
I believe all of the shows chosen by treehouse have a value to one child or another.
Just because we as adults don't think they are right, doesn't mean that our children don't.  Not every adult likes RAP music so does that mean we should ban it from television...............NO!!!  Just don't watch that particular channel when it is on.
The same as we would do if our children didn't like a program or we didn't want our children watching a certain program, we would simple change the channel.
That's what we should do as adults instead of complaining to a children's television program about what we think should and should be televised, we should fell fortunate to have the option of allowing our children to watch these programs if he/she enjoys them and if they don't enjoy them that doesn't mean that another child somewhere else doesn't.

I have to admit that the first time I saw the night garden, I found it a little odd, but after watching it a few times, it is now my favorite.  My son loves it!  Its the only show that he really sits and watches.  I think its wonderful that he enjoys it that much.  Nothing else seems to hold his attention for that length of time.  I love when we get to sit and watch it together.  It has turned into automatic cuddle time for us whenever it comes on.  It truly is an enchanting and magical make-believe world.

Keeping in mind that Treehouse TV likely has a handful of child psychologists on their team, I took a look to see what exactly some DEVELOPMENTAL benefits  (which are just as important as educational, as it allows a child to be well-adjusted) are of the show, and...

The structure of In the Night Garden is consistent from programme to programme and takes children on an imaginative journey, which begins in the magical moment when children are beginning to drift off to sleep. It's a journey that impacts on their imagination and has a capacity to relax children as well as entertain.

Throughout every episode each of the characters interact and care for one another unconditionally.

At the end of every episode there is a recap, which is signposted by the Tittifers, brightly coloured birds who come together to form a harmony that acts as a signal for bedtime for all the characters.

The programme uses repetition and anticipation to build confidence, satisfaction and enjoyment. This is all carried out at a pace which under 4's can follow and understand.

The tone of the programme is deliberately literary. The use of words, rhymes and music carry the child through a happy world of loveable characters and nursery rhyme nonsense.

Throughout every episode each of the characters interact and care for one another unconditionally.
On that note, I was raised on a steady diet of The Simpsons and Sailor Moon, which inarguably have no educational value, and I turned out perfectly well-rounded both intellectually and developmentally.

ITNG was originally commissioned by the BBC. Treehouse merely bought the right to air the show.  Ragdoll produced the show.

why are you all so worried about how t.v. is raising your children? why don't you get off the computer turn off the t.v. and teach your child something yourself. read a book, play a game or maybe some kind of real life experience. go outside and actually live your life with your child instead of planting them in front of the t.v.

I completely and utterly agree! My child won't watch it, and I wouldn't want her to as there is NO educational or stimulation in this show.  Add more Blue's Clues back!
