Why do all programs have to teach our children?  What do we learn from watching tv as adults? tv is meant to be entertainment, not education.  As parents we should teach our children the lessons we want them to learn, and allow tv (in moderation) to entertain them. My son loves this show and i would be disappointed if it were cancelled.

Well, my kids enjoy it, and my 5 year old can read quite well; as well as my two older children and they watched this show and others like it, so I'm sure my younger two won't be any different. I don't think a 30 minute a day program will be detrimental to their development.
If you would like to teach your kids some values maybe YOU should teach it and not rely on the television to babysit your kid. If you want a channel to sit your kid in front of and forget about, you should take what you can get, or realize that there are other channels with more educational value such as PBS kids.
If parents are so worried about the educational value of programs on treehouse, perhaps their children are watching too much tv.

No way do I agree, both night garden and teletubbies are based on sounds that Children use to communicate in the first months of their lives.  They are colourful, relaxing and use all main phoenics to get our children using sounds.  Much better than sticking them in front of bad cartoons and minor violence (which still does not harm our children once able to understand them)  So my 6 month old loves it and my son when he was 1 year old also loved it :)  KEEP NIGHT GARDEN!!

This show is no less educational then most of the shows on Treehouse. They are for young children, meant to teach about very basic things like treating others well, sharing, other types of social interaction and hygene etc. I find that this show does teach these things.
Maccapacca washes things and people. They are all different and different sizes yet they play together. Like making music the Tombliboos and Upsy Daisy work together and it teaches them to count as well. Also, the show is set up in a nice routine, where they play and then it is time to sleep and everyone does it. It helps me to put my daughter to bed.
It is a quiet soft show for getting ready to sleep. My daughter and her cousins all love it.
I don't see any downside. to this show. I think that "Little Bear" and "Franklyn" are good shows too and they are on very often, so I am happy to have some more variety in the programming.

I totally disagree..  My one year old loves In The Night Garden and watches it every day.  We even went out and bought here the dvd's.   She isn't quite into the toddler programs such as Franklin and Caillou.

Why does every show have to have an educational value towards it.  I understand children are little and are learning, but there are plenty of shows on treehouse
    that have educational values.

I can't believe this show is still around.
The only good thing about this show, is that it forces them to turn the tv off at 7:30, as they can't stand it!

    And to be serious

I can't find a single show on Treehouse that is universially accepted. There are threads upon threads as to how one/two/many/no-one hates/likes  a show...

And if each and every  parent has the power to remove a show she/he dislikes then Treehouse will show nothing..

eta to remove unwarrented snark, sorry.

I used to be such a sweet sweet thing
Till they gotta hold of me.

I agree with the parents saying that not every tv show HAS to be educational.  sometimes it's just a fun experience for the child!  My 2 year old son LOVES In the Night Garden, and while I find it a bit creepy (like many kid's shows out there), I'm happy he likes to relax before bedtime to this show.  It does teach some stuff like right now Oopsy Daisy is doing a dance show to make someone feel better, isn't that a nice thought? They do seem to be very considerate and teach caring and love.  Kids get letters and numbers all the time!

I find that In the Night Garden is harmless. It is extremely annoying for me to watch but my son enjoys it. I think he is too old for it and I LOVE Little Bear soooo much more. But I still have Little Bear on my treehouse channels so I am not lacking AND In The Night Garden comes on late enough that it helps calm my son down before story book time. I won't miss it if it's gone, but I see nothing wrong with it... Except those Tomblivoos pantsing eachother... I don't think that's where my son picked it up but it doesn't help LOL

and thats the only thing that matters that your kids like it i get sad when i see that people are forcing ther kids not to watch a show they like. so make me glad not sad. let them watch the show if they like it!

Night Garden is a show that engages my kids' imaginations.

It's a bit odd, but it's also artsy.  I think it's a wonderful thing to get your kids exposed to this early.

This is one of the shows i actually prefer my kids watching on Treehouse.
