Graduated Post Status - Please Read

    Hi everyone,

Just a heads up that we will be re-activating the graduated post status on our boards.  This means that members who have a post count under 100 will be pre-moderated before their posts go live.

We have re-activated this feature to ensure that spam is kept off the boards and only posts from our members go through.

    Thanks for your co-operation

Sorry, what's great about a few people stopping the majority of the posters here being able to communicate easily??

To me it's a shame that sensible posters are moderated due to others' lack of respect.

Well my posts are still under the 100 mark, so I have to be patient after responding in some threads while my posts get okayed!

Yep! It seems to work that way.

I was missing non-moderated posts but those from 100 on went straight onto the board.

    Congrats tiya tiya

    Congrats tiya tiya

Thanx... the funny thing is that it was still saying 99 on my post count, and so even tho it was my 100th one, it still required moderation to get into this thread!!  But glad I'm past that now

and with all that in mind, maybe we can actually get some of the posts that require moderation up within a reasonable period of time?   I mean, should a post have to wait over a weekend, or overnight?

I think it could be an interesting experiment to give some of our elder posters  the ability to see all posts and approve those which are not spam or written with the sole purpose to inflame........the elders are people I would trust to allow all legitimate posts, and not only ones they personally agree with. These people know that without differing viewpoints, there really is no need for a discussion forum.

They are also here more often, and with more flexibility than a person hired to do same.

Of course, spam would not be approved, nor the ones that violate the rules, as outlined elsewhere.

What do others think?  And while I'm asking questions, how long will it take for this to be posted?  It is 6:40pm EDT on Saturday May 3.

    Hi dadathome,

Thanks for your suggestion.  Members do recieve post-graduated status after 100 posts.  At this time your posts will show up automatically without falling in to the moderation queue.

On the same note, some may think that the post count mark of 100 may be too high.  Do you feel it would be beneficial to lower the post-graduated mark? It would be great to get yours, as well as other members opinion on this.

    Sincerely,

I feel the current count of 100 is too high.I'm not sure these days of the number of  members or active posters but I'm sure the vast majority of them/us are well able to self-moderate.

That being said I think the count could be lowered to 50 or even 30 as I'm sure a lot of posters are put off due to the restriction currrently in place.

100 posts may be too high.....

I understand the purpose of having graduated posting, as it helps keep spam or flame posts from the boards......but these people will not ever likely make any post limit.  They want to sell their product, leave their link, or stir up trouble and move on as quickly as possible.

I admit to contributing more before the grad. posting than I do now......mostly because by the time the post has been approved, it is no longer timely.....others with the graduated post have often already made the same point, or answered a question posed in my post.  (OK, also because I am spending 90% more time outside!)

I think that by the time a person posts 25 or 30 well thought out posts on a variety of topics we can be relatively sure that they are not just here to leave links to off-topic sites, or the start ridiculous threads...after all, if a post is not approved, it does not go towards their overall post count, does it?

Let's see what people think of 25 or 30 posts.....numbers can always be changed if necessary :)

Postings become instant after the 100th post automatically?
As long as if the spammers don't learn that, and post 101 messages, all will be fine.

I also think the currant count of 100 is too high it should be lowered to 50.

I agree, 100 mark is too much, 50 or even 40 is more acceptable.
And yes, how long does it actually take for posts to come on to the forum requiring moderation? I wrote a post just prior to hitting the 100 mark (a couple of weeks ago) and its still NOT in the forum.. whats going on Treehouse???

I've seen posts take upto 1 week before now.But that seems excessive.
