    Loving the new shows.

    #1-The night garden (his favorite)
    #2- Yo Gabba gabba
    #3-Kilan
    #4- FiFi

My son loves all of these new ones. For about a year I switched to pbs and other networks to find what he would like to keep him occupied while I cleaned the house.

There isn't one of the new shows that DS dislikes. There are a couple that he would rather play through all things being equal.

    He has a preference for
    IN The Night Garden
    Ni Hao Kai Lin
    Yo Gabba Gabba
    .

The others really depend on his mood at the time.

I used to be such a sweet sweet thing

I dont think there is any show on Treehouse that DD doesnt enjoy, depends on her mood as well, but she has never shown a dislike for anything. She will pay less attention to her lesser favs, and usually be playing or doing other activities when they are on, but then again on other occassions enjoy those shows just as much.

My kids and I are really digging the new shows. We've been watching Yo Gabba Gabba online for over a year.

Fifi and the Flowertots seems to be a repackaged Strawberry Shortcake, instead of baked goods its flowers.

My son really likes the Koala Brothers, but we had to lose his all time favorite to get it (Timothy goes to school). In the Night Garden seems like a Teletubby offshoot, and he usually asks to change the channel when it comes on. Ni Hao Kai Lin is... well, I can understand why Dora and Deigo are around, but I'm somewhat confused as to why theres now a show that focuses on Chinese. Though my son really likes Yo Gabba Gabba, and despite some of the oddities of the show, I think it teaches a number of good things. I agree though that Fifi seems to be a remake of Strawberry Shortcake.

ITNG is made by Ragdoll, too.

There are over 1 billion Chinese people and the Chinese economy is racing up in potential for investment. In the next couple of decades there is going to be a need for people who can speak Chinese , Hindi and Arabic.

In order of people as native speakers Chinese is first( 873 miliion  speakers),  followed by Spanish (322 million),English(  308 million), Portuguese(250 million), Arabic(  Somewhere between 206 -323 million, possibly higher due to Islamic teachings)Hindi-Urdu(242).( source Wikipedia- can't link directly to it as there's a problem with my browser)

My daughters love most of the new shows - can't really think of any that they truly dislike.  ITNG and YGG are our absolute faves, and Ni Hao Kai Lan is very popular too.  I especially like that in NHKL it discusses how to deal with emotions.  There are not enough shows that explore this topic.  There are plenty of shows that teach letters and numbers, but it is great to have this show to discuss common ways that toddlers and young children can express their feelings and may be frustrated or have difficulty expressing in a healthy way.  It also encourages you to look at the situation in a new light and try to find a solution rather than just accepting a situation at face value.

On a lighter note, their dad was shocked to hear our three year old ask for her slippers in Chinese and answering the phone with "Ni hao!".  He has travelled to China on business and deals with Chinese manufacturers on a regular basis.  He feels very strongly that our girls should be learning Chinese as a second language along with Spanish rather than French.  Although French is a wonderful language and I love our country's bilingualism, for business purposes we feel these languages will be more practical in the long run.

Thats a good point about  NHKL . Learning to think through problems is a huge life-skill.

Agreed on learning Chinese but there are plenty of other languages that are going to equally or more important than Spanish soon.

Its funny because it seems the same people keep posting about liking the shows but there are so many more that can't stand them.
Its the kids that don't like them I find!  I speak for my son - he can't stand much of the new programming.
He absolutely hates Go Gabba Gabba and In the Night Garden.

    Are you talking about me??

The voices of parents whose children likr these shows need to be heard too.

After all , your e-petiton only recordred 120 reponces before it was sent to Treehouse. That's not an overwhelming anti-INTG /YGG vote based on a board membership of over 17,000 ( Feb 2008) .

Why do you disregard the number of children wh do like these shows??

If your son doesn't like them, I won't force him to watch them.

Why do you feel you/your son has the right to censor the shows my( and some of the less vocal parent's) children want to watch??

I  was very intereasted in seeing the reults of your e-petiton.

Baring in mind you claimed the vast majority of Treehouse viewers didn't like ITNG

The last time I saw a list of Treehouse members, it registered 18,0009(180K), your list shows 120.

Will you ever accept that there are some children who like these shows??

    Re: Loving the new shows.

In customer service, retail, banking and service industries there is what is referred to as the 20/80 rule. That 20% of your customer base will consume 80% for your time in dealing with complaints, returns, wanting things a certain way, etc.

It is also this 20% that are the most vocal, so it looks like there is a lot of people complaining and clamoring for change, when the reality it is a very small group.

So, if there are 17,000 members of the Treehouse forums and only 137 signatures on the petition then that percentage is 0.8% (not even a full percent) want things back the way the were before the new shows were added to the schedule.

0.8% are the so called vocal majority for change.
