I've recentley noticed that five and six year old girls are crazy about Hannah Montanah and High School Musical. I always thought that the franchises were intended for young teenagers. Personally, I think lots of young girls are growing up too fast, as these things seem too mature for them. When my daughter was that age, she was into stuff like My Little Pony, not High School stuff. What are your thoughts?

The is really nothing aimed at the 6-9 yrs old girls. It's all Dora>Drisley Princess stuff for the pre school crowd and then HM/HSM  for the older pre-teens.



My 7 yo thinks MLP/Barbie are for "babies" as they have been on Treehouse. \Thankfully she doesn't like My Little Streetwalkers aka Bratz any more either.

She does play with Littlest Pet Shop.

My 11 yo is just starting to get into HSM/HM purely because I've limited her access to them.

A few weeks ago, I was at my friend's daughter's birthday party. She was turning six. The theme for the entire birthday was High School Musical. The decorations, the cake, the pinata, and most of the presents were High School Musical. (N0, I didn't get her something HSM related. I got her an art kit). I asked her mother, "Isn't she a bit young for High School Musical?" The mother said no, that was the big thing for first graders. All the six year olds there were raving about HSM; some of them were even dressed like teenagers! They were going on about how "hot" Troy was. My two didn't know what "hot" meant at that age. I was also told that when the girl had turned 5, her party theme had been Hannah Montanah.

Your daughter sounds like a really caring child, you should be proud of her.

We don't have that problem at school since they have uniforms. Though I have heard it can be a problem in the state system.
