How is this ironic?  Nobody has asked Treehouse to play any programs that teach any religious doctrines.  Just that they continue to NOT promote any particular religion.  I would think that any true Budhist would also agree to this.

This is one of the saddest threads that I have seen in a long time.
The total lack of acceptance and tolerance is so disappointing.
Waybuloo is a non religious children's show that is attempting to teach your children what many of you were obviously never taught yourselves: how to express a range of positive emotions.
Rather than being about religion it's about wisdom, harmony and acceptance. These may feel like 'scary Buddhist words' to those of you who misunderstand your own religious tenants, I say this because I don't know of any religion that doesn't value these teachings.
Yoga is a great way to calm and focus a child, it is also now a very wildly accepted form of exercise without religious overtone. If you feel the need to turn off Treehouse due to your own prejudice, go ahead, just don't damage it for the rest of us.

    Treehouse -About the Show

The series transports children into a magical land called Nara – a real world, which is inhabited by animated characters called Piplings. Taking a completely original approach, Waybuloo focuses on children’s feelings, and the Piplings embody a range of emotions including love, wisdom, happiness and harmony – all in search of Waybuloo.

Allthough I find it strange that these creatures float around and I can't understand everything they say I think it's silly how worked up people get.  The show seems harmless.  As a parent and a follower of Christ I believe it is my job to teach my children what I believe, not the job of any television program.  My husband is a pastor and I think he would agree with me.  There are all kinds of shows that teach about Santa and many other harmless things that aren't "christian" does this mean we shelter our children from everything?  I don't think so.

    MommaK,
If you weren't a concerned parent, then why would you waste your time to come on this forum? This seems a bit odd to me!
I would agree that it is our responsibility to teach our children, but there is a large difference between "Santa" and little creatures who outright say, "let's levitate"! Harmless? I don't think so!

    This .....100, 000 times.

Despite the fact I hate "Barney" with a passion. I would never ever ask for it to be removed due , soley, to my antipathy. Since I know lots of children like the show, why would my wishes be more important??

One of the worst things that would happen to Treehouse would be that they removed all the "contentious" programming and just left the bland, every-one kinda-likes these shows.Which would end up with far more repeats especially as I can't think of a programme that every-one likes.

I don't expect Treehouse to cater to me and my children. And I don't understand the whole "Remove this show because X, Y and Z"  where X,Y and Z are personal preferences.

I really think linking the yoga exercises the characters do on the show to New Age teachings is an efforted stretch to say the least.

I have no problem with teaching children to appreciate diversity

If this is true then why are you so quick to change the channel?

Are Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism really that frightening to you?  Or is it possible that you yourself are not quite sure what it is these belief systems entail?   A quick trip to wikipedia can help in this respect if that is the case.

Given your decision that Waybaloo is teaching new age religion, and you have no problem teaching children to appreciate diversity, then wouldn't this show be a great opportunity to do just that?

    shara44
please explain to me what great harm the act of "floating" implies.

Jolly old saint nick, magically travelling through the sky hitched to a team of flying reindeer is largely different??   How?

    So is Tinkerbell levitating?
    shara44:

.....I, too, am very concerned, with how Waybuloo is trying to indoctrinate our young children with New Age beliefs.....

What "New Age beliefs" are you referring to???  And when was it decided that this program promotes New Age beliefs?

The Piplings play hide and seek and exercise using yoga poses.  They interact with real children to explore and experience happiness through warmth, friendship, co-operation and citizenship.

In each episode, six children help the Piplings explore new situations and the emotions that arise from them. Social concepts such as sharing, respect for others and harmony are explored with gentle humour and understanding.

Who wouldn't want their children exposed to this?

    Wow!
    Momma Mandy:
    exposed
to other religions such as New Age religion which they now have been.

So you've decided that this show is teaching "New Age" religion.  Based on what exactly??

The Piplings are floating - not levitating, because that is how these "make believe" characters respond when they are truly happy.

There is no meditation.  What is wrong with meditation?  They are promoting exercise by doing yoga poses.

This channel is about imagination and make believe characters teaching goodness, kindness and caring for others.  There are talking bears, turtles and bunnies teaching our children about sharing, respect and loving one another.  A little boy named Harry who plays with talking dinosaurs opens their minds to imagination and problem solving.  And cute little "kritter things" called Piplings helping our little ones as they begin to discover and understand their own feelings and emotions including love, wisdom, happiness and harmony.

Censor this?  Of course you have every right to do that, but I truly feel sadness for your kids.
