I must admit that I haven't seen the new four square season but WOW, you guys are being kinda hostile! Cut it some slack...it's a kids show! Didn't Power Rangers change like every season? I say that if your child like the show, then you aughta give it another chance.

Well we just noticed a week or so ago that Captain Hop was gone. He was absolutley awesome. My son Braedyn who has down syndrome loved the show four square. It would be safe to say that it was his favorite. (For the longest time I couldn't understand why he was putting his arms out in front and then dumping his hands down. And making noises.) So about 7 months ago, we clued into Four Square. He was pretending to be a dump truck showed by the beat team.

We loved captain hop. So my husband says to me tonight try and find out what happened to Captain Hop. So here I am! There needs to be a bice balance of male and female on that show. It makes a difference...Please bring Captain hop back.

    Hup!

I'm sorry Tree Daisy that I called you Tree Girl in my response above. You are doing a great job listening to us complainers. LOL! Keep it up!

I think I have to agree with everyone else here. My two year old daughter loved 4 square and now when it comes on she has no interest what so ever. You would think that the programing people would realize that children become familiar with certain things and when they are changed they aren't happy. Bring back the original cast please.

I totally agree.... just wanted to be sure I wasn't the only one! I haven't posted in a long time, but had to come in to see what everyone else's thoughts were.

We just saw the new cast for the first time on Tuesday and watched it again tonight. (It has been a busy summer and haven't watch much tv, so I was unaware and shocked by the changes). But, yes, I am sure I don't like the new cast as much, but I didn't pass my feelings onto my son. He still seems to enjoy it as much as before. I am disappointed with the changes too, but I think we have to give the new cast a chance. I like the interaction the show provides and I honestly believe that it has actually taught my son a few things!

For example: We used signing with my son. So I am over animated when playing with him. When we were learning to count, 1, 2, 3 was easy; then by doing the little beat team slap clappy thing, helped my son learn the number 4. Same with the poems. I know Denis Lee can be lame to us, but for our toddlers it is ideal. My son was reciting back to me the whole, "Read Me A Book" book, by Barbara Reid by the time he was 20 mths. I think the show made it fun to learn and remember things. I've caught myself saying "Good Remembering" more then once! We took my son to the zoo and when we saw the Aligator, he said out of the blue, all on his own: "Aligator *SNAP*" and made big arm motions to mimic. It was so funny, but Four Square is where he got it from!

We like the show format and I am finding my son becoming more and more interactive as he has been getting older. He loves that "he can do it" and always wants us to "watch this!" It makes us laugh! He is 26 mths now and we have been watching it for over a year.

Thank goodness the Beat Team is still the same. They were always our favorite anyway! We miss Captain Hop, Helen and the male(baritone) from the 4 Tones group!

    Questions:

Is Bianca the same Bianca the from the old group? She looks younger? and now has braces?

Just wondering if the previous cast, was the orginal cast from the show's inception?

Sorry for the long winded note. LOL

My four year old hadn't watched this show in awhile so the first time it came on while we were home he ran to the t.v, stopped and his face went all screwy. The first thing that came out of his face was "ummmm, mom?" and I came over and I said excitedly "oh wow new people, yay" and he replied "no, not good" and it was with captain hoppette. I told him to give it a chance and after he said he didn't like it and doesn't want to watch it anymore. It's so boring and slow. I still try but we both can't stand it. I was not too impressed with the "spread your legs, spread your cheeks" one either. I was in a different room with a friend who has never seen it and he heard that, gave me a dirty look and asked me what I was doing letting my son watch a show like that. He said it sounded sick and perverted.

The poetry girl is one of the girls from OMNI (channel 4 and 15) and I didn't like her on that channel and I don't like her on this either.

The beat team doesn't look the same either. The girl with the light brown curly hair (the REALLY skinny whiny one) doesn't look the same. It looks like it would be her sister. She's a bit chunkier in the stomach and face and her face looks different. She doesn't sound as whiny either. I actually like her better now (wether or not it's a new girl).

And I agree with the rest about the four tones. The guy evened it out and it's not as great now.

I just saw a new episode tonight and it is nothing like the original.

Captain Hop was better, and the old poem girl doing Dennis Lee was better.

However, the beat team is just fine, and the four-tones were alright.

I agree also, my kids don't care for the show that much now that everything has been revamped. We would love to see the old cast or even just re-runs of the old show rather than this new one. It is too drastic a change and kids don't really like that.

Wow!! i can't beleive the posts i am reading. I am sitting here reading the posts while my son is actually watching, and singing along....doing some of the actions and enjoying it. What am i missing here. Tree daisy i think the NEW 4 square is nicely done. People it is change.... the new four tones do a nice job. It is different without the barratone, but still a good job. Poems are great, my son goes along with them well. Beat team, great as always, and the controversial hoppette, yes it is different, i prefer capt hop, but really its about the kids and for my son (24 months) it is still his favorite part. I think parents might be expressing some of their own opinions here in place of thier kids. So again, the NEW episodes are different but great as well. Good work Tree Daisy.

Wow, you people in here have to calm down, it's not the end of the world.. Its only a show. If your kids dont like it take them outside or something..I find some of the comments in here completely exagerated.. Atleast I hope they are exaggerated b/c if your children are that upset about it they are definetly to dependant on TV.. I really have a hard time imaging a 2 year old expressing hatred over a tv show, give me a break..

For one thing my son is 4 not 2. And no, my 2 year old hasn't even noticed a difference because that's not one of the shows he watched. Four square was a show my son used to look forward to (especially after he turned 4). Now he doesn't like it. He doesn't watch many shows but it sucks when the ones he likes change for the worse.

RE: New Four Square Episodes, What Happened??

I was just reading some of the responses from some people and I have to say to TreeDaisy, the majority of the children, not the adults, do not like the new 4 square. I think it mainly has to do with Captain Hup and his gang. I don't think the children notice any difference between the other segments. If Captain Hup was suddenly brought back children would love it.

As for children being too dependent on television.....some are yes but the majority of smart parents do not allow their children to watch that much television. Children start watching Treehouse and very easily begin to have favouite shows, whether they watch them 24-7 or once in a blue moon. The minute something like that is changed they don't like it anymore. Anyone can tell you that children rely on constant behaviours and activities, ect... you change one thing and everything is ruined for them. They need that stability and rouiteness. So yes children notice the difference and immediatly react.

I used to love watching 4 square with my son, 2 1/2, but now he has no interest in the show, but not a big deal we'll just continue playing or he'll watch one of his other favourite shows..........

Despite the change, Four Square is still one of my favorite Treehouse shows. I love the beat team, but really miss Captain Hop. My two year old seems to like both old and new episodes equally. My 5 year old son likes most of the new ones, with the exeptionof the poetry. He really loved Helen, and is sad that she's not on anymore.

The one nice thing about the new episodes for me is that I can now sit through the four tones and the doowahs. The tone-deafness of the old doowahs was so grating on my nerves that I couldn't watch that bit. Now I really enjoy it.

While I don't really like the new ones, my daughters still like it. Though my oldest (who is 4) does prefer Captain Hop.

She loves following the actions though, whether it is a new or old one.
