I think that its us parents that are more upset about the new cast. You get used the old cast and the new is different and not as good as the first...as with most shows and movies. My son still likes the show. Its not the cast he likes its the actions, music and singing that keeps his attention.

Holy cow, people. Are you all serious? I stumbled across this forum and can't believe the comments I'm reading. So they changed some cast members and some of the existing cast members had the audacity to age, cut their hair or 'grow thicker through the mid section' - give them a break people. They exist outside of working on the show, they have lives. Get over it. Maybe Helen, Captain Hop, and the guy from the Four Tones got better gigs.
As for the kids and husband's 'outrage' at the changes - I think they need to get out more.

It has been a few weeks since I had posted on this thread. I have seen quite a few episodes. My son 4.5 loves the Beat team and Hup sessions. Even though my son has down syndrome, he has noticed that Captain Hup is gone. He actually signed to me all gone. I confirmed to him, all gone. Then Braedyn signed finished.

But we still partake in the actions. This show ties with the backyardigans, Dora and Diego for best viewed in my house. But he used to run to the TV when he heard four square come on. Our TV is on constantly, and he's not always watching it, playing with me inside and outside etc. But If my TV is on during the day, it is tuned into Treehouse so my son won't get bothered by pesky commercials and "not so nice TV programs."

I am willing to give it a chance as well. But have to agree with a pp, that captain huppette's programming seems slower and a tad dull. But it's not for us, its for the kids!

yeah I agree. BRING BACK CAPTAIN HOP!!! I LOVED HIM!!!!!! As did my daughter, she won't watch the show anymore!!!!!!!!!!!! The "hop" team doesn't have the same energy that it used to with captain hop, lutzoo and team...

My son (17 months) and I miss the old 4 square as well. We're also missing the fact that it used to be on a couple times a week at around 8:30pm with all 4 teams!

Not the end of the world I guess, but it was wonderful to watch for those couple of minutes, when my son literally stopped whatever he was doing and just glowed watching the different teams. (Captain Hup and the Beat Team WERE his favourites)

I did find some old episodes on the Treehouse Web site music area for kids, so at least my son can still watch the old episodes and have fun!

Hopefully Treehouse will add some more "old" episodes to the music area!

My son (22 months) used to LOVE Four Square. Now he dosn't really watch it except for the beat team. My husband and i used to like watching it with him. Too bad, maby the newbies will get better!

I'm still trying to pretend I like it for my 4 year old son and trying to get him to watch it but he only watches the old ones. My 2 year old doesn't really notice a difference but it seems he gets more enthusiastic my Captain hop instead of the girl. There's just more energy with the guy.

I think that it's not the end of the world! Show your kids change is good! I still like the show and so do both of my kids, they noticed that some of the people had changed, but it wasn't an ordeal. I LOVE THE SHOW!!!!

What happened to the old people that use to run on four square .... my kids go crazy when this show comes on.... but what ever happened to captain hop? he was my daughters favourite! We need the older ones back ... anyone agree??

wow... 4squares is on alot... so how come we keep missing it? man that sucks.... I am gonna write it down... yea... I was actually gonna say that you all have to be aware that there was at least 4 years in between the taping of each season!!!! Not everyone sat around waiting for the show to retape again I am sure, and if I were on that show, I would probably beg to have another job just so I didn't have to wear those rediculous costumes. But that is beside the point. The real point here is that people move on, and some of the cast decided to further their career in another direction... so get over it.

I do have to say though, I really think that the piano part is bad in the movement segment (captain hopette). but meh, whatever... I wanted new episodes and I got them... i can't really complain.

can you put the old season as well as the new on DVD... that would be really great if you decided to do that, cause I would definately buy it!

i AGREE WITH EVERYONE ABOUT THE NEW CAST MY 9 MONTH OLD BABY HAS BEEN IN LOVE WITH FOUR SQUARE SINCE SHE WAS 4 MONTHS OLD IT'S ACTUALLY A GREAT BABY SITTER SHE WILL WATCH IT 4 2 HOURS STRAIGHT AND WE REALLY MISS CAPTIAN HOP. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO BY 4 SQUAER ON DVD? PLAYING THE SAME EPISODS OVER AND OVER IT GETTING A LITTLE CRAZY CUZ THERE ONLY 15 MIN LONG IT WOULD BE GREAT IF SOMEONE COULD TELL ME WHERE TO BUY THE DVD.

I dont know if its just me, but sometimes I think one of the girls in beat team, tries to be a little overly sexy. But who knows It could be just me......but a few other friends of mine noticed it as well.
Maybe this season is not as bad, but if you saw last season....she does get a little to into it for a childrens show.

I think it is interesting to see how many people liked the older version better than the newer. My husband and I could NOT STAND the older version. Captain Hop was a big reason, and we see the newer Captain Hoppette is less annoying.

I like both poet reciters equally, and I don't mind the changes with the Fourtones either.

Perhaps the producers didn't have much choice in who returned for this season - if the actors said "no", they pretty much had to replace them or cancel the show.

With the changes, we occasionally let our kids watch this show, but I find the show is a great impetus to Mum and Dad shutting off the tv and starting a game or other activity! lol

Well, I never saw the old cast but I have to say that my daughter (10 months) and my friends son (13 months) love this show. They are too young to really participate but it totally holds their attention. Captian Hupette had them laughing for the "hide the face" episode and that was the first time I really noticed them paying attention to the tv. My husband finds all the "hups" annoying but the kids don't care! My tv is on almost all day, either on treehouse or the mtrax music channel of treehouse music. Thanks for the kid friendly entertainment.
