Thank you Qwerty, for pointing out that a Bonsai is a plant.  When I read the post, that's the first thing I was thinking.  (And just to educate you, "banzai", spelled differently, was the Japanese war cry you were referring to, and it approximately translates to "ten thousand years".)

As for "bazoom"...it doesn't sound anything like a plane.  That's probably the least likely word a child would associate with the sound of a plane, regardless of what kind.  Most children I've heard actually make engine noises.  And probably most children wouldn't tell you that "bazoom" is the sound a plane makes if you specifically asked them what the word brings to mind.

"Hop", even repeated, does not sound like a gun firing.  Your imagination is running wild and you're inflciting it onto your child.  "Hop" is what children are told bunnies do.  What will you tell your child when he/she see a little rabbit hopping by in a cartoon or in a book?  Will you avoid using the word for fear that it may sound like a gun firing?  If that's your line of thinking, then the word "pop" would also fall into the same catergory, as well as "ba".  All these syllables repeated rapidly  would drive your mind into overdrive, I believe.

You're hearing things that aren't there.  Lighten up with your perception and paranoia.  Your child will be fine (hopefully) if you actually let him/her enjoy being a child instead of putting ideas into his/her head about misconstruing innocent things/actions/sounds.

If you've ever watched ballet, you would know that male dancers wear a special kind of undergarment called a dance belt. The dance belt holds their genitals up front so that they can move their legs freely without fear of banging their testicles, and it usually also has a layer of padding so that the audience can't see any anatomical detail.

You'd see the same thing at the ballet, but maybe not in such bright colours.

    Dance belt

SFW/C line drawings of several different styles. Certainly not very revealing when worn.

    Caringmother:
yes the outfits are quite revealing in the crotch area of the men and you can totally see the areola on the woman but i dont think kids really catch on to that sort of thing i still think that the men should put some shorts on though like the woman wear skirts

See the previous 2 posts on dance belts re the men's costumes.

As for the women's costumes...the dance wear professional dancers wear has a padded shelf bra sewn into the costume for support the b*reasts and avoid nip-slip.

Some women , like me, have nips what show through even padded bras though. The only thing I don't show through, when cold are those awful 50's style conical bras...

Given a mother who's into WWI and WWII and a father into planes in general, all 3 of ours know what planes sound like. "Bazoom"isn't a plane-like sound at all...

People may not let their kids watch this show because of the so called revelling outfits.  I don't see my one year old looking at the revelling clothes they wear.  Everytime 4 Squares comes on my one year old dances away.  I think their are more imortant things to worry about then your one year old coming up to you aking to wear spandex

Well, Really, what is the difference between seeing a man's parts and a woman's part?
so you are saying the kids can be exposed to what they see in women but not in men?

My daughter (13 months) absolutely loves this show, and gets very excited every time she sees it starting.

I hope the people who are somehow offended by these outfits don't take their children swimming.

It's also unfortunate that some people would actually comment on the "unrealistic, strange behaviour."  Clearly, their children should watch a show like this, so they will in fact be exposed to dance / poetry / drama / spoken word / music.

I'm also not sure why parents apparently feel the need to judge a show based on their own preferences (plenty of adult channels for you), or the abilities of their 3-year old children, as if they were drumming brilliantly right from birth.

Excellent show.  My daughter loves it.
