    Toddler-friendly Veggies,

I have a 2 1/2 year old who will not eat vegetables. Any ideas how I can "sneak" them into his meals? If he sees them, he won't eat them (even diced veggies in pasta sauce).
    thanks

I have the same problem. My daughter won't eat them either. But, I hear grating them into sauces, muffins etc. does the trick! Definately worth a shot

    RE: Toddler-friendly Veggies,

    hi
I tried to post and it didn't work the first time!! My son is the same age, and the only vegetables he's willing to eat are red peppers- only raw though, and carrots raw or in soup. I find that puree-ing cooked vegetables to the point where there are no bits to pick out is most effective. For soups, you can easily sautee onions and garlic and meat together and then cook as many vegetables as you like into the water, then remove and puree the solid stuff.... gives it a heartier taste without giving them the option to say 'ew' to pieces that can be picked out. With pasta sauce, you can cook zucchinis til they're softened and puree them, toss them into the tomato sauce and it tastes good, my son hasn't figured out it tastes a little different. Adding cheese to foods or serving veggies with dip, crackers & cubed cheese is a good way to present veggies as snack-food. Kids don't always love or hate a food forever, if you try, try again, your child may acquire a taste for something she refused before. You can puree just about anything into a sauce or dip.. make it fun. Good luck

    RE: Toddler-friendly Veggies,

If your child likes pancakes, try mashing up peas and putting them in the mix.

That way, the clild gets their veggies and doesn't know it.

    RE: Toddler-friendly Veggies,

You can grind Flax which is fully of nutrients (keep the bag in the fridge and it will last forever) and put a bit in pancakes, muffins, soups and pasta sauce. Try different veggies in different ways, we make veggie cupcakes, with rice or mashed potato, some veggies and melted cheese on top, my kids love them. Pureeing as Solange suggested is a great idea. Also, offer lots of fruit, fruit has many nutrients, just more natural sugar than veggies, and give a vitamin supplement to make sure your child is getting all their nutrition. Kids often go through phases, sometimes they want only Peanut Butter sandwiches every lunch, and their palettes, just like an adult, can get bored. Try some legumes, too, hummus in a pita is a big hit here, cous cous with raisins and chickpeas, veggie soup with alphabits in it. My son didn't like corn, but LOVES corn on the cob, doesn't like a baked potato, but likes mashed or French Fries, just keep putting things on the plate and say to your other children or husband how yummy they are, encouraging your little guy to just try it. Try different dips for veggies like carrots, celery, cherry tomatos, mushrooms and bell peppers, or put PB on celery. Maybe he would like carrot muffins or a chocolate zucchani bread? Don't stress if you end up eating most of the veggies on your son's plate, but I think if you are consistant and keep offering them in different ways, he will start enjoying them! Hope that helps!:)

Okay PLEASE don't throw anything at the screen people but all my children love veggies, they sometimes will choose them over a sweet snack! I wish there was a trick but I think I just got lucky!

    RE: Toddler-friendly Veggies,

Some people say that most babies/toddlers will grab the food that they need. My son is 16 months old i give him a variety of foods. One meal i'll offer him a couple different veggies and a couple different fruits some meat and yogurt or milk. It seems that my son will at least try everything veggies included. I was surprised. i don't hide the veggies and fruit into different foods i just offer them. I give him some dip to dunk his carrots or broccoli in so maybe just try some dip instead of hiding the foods. I don't know about you but i wouldn't like to try carrot and pea pancakes. . Well hopefully my tip will work. If not i might have a couple more ideas in the future. [FONT=Impact][SIZE=7][COLOR=green][I][B]

only veggies my daughter will eat are the frozen ones, since they are small enough. Maybe if you get you toolder or child to help prepair them, or something. maybe that wuld help? or eat the veggies with them or something. thats how my daughter started eating her veggies, she would take them off my plate, but she wouldnt eat them off of her own.

I have 3 just the same. I must go through several bags of carrots each week due to snacking.

Their favourites are carrots and broccoli, cooked or raw.
I used to be such a sweet sweet thing
Till they gotta hold of me.

Sometimes, I would put melted cheese or peanut butter in celery like mommy of 2 boys is doing. I also like to put cheese in broccolli. How about chop some of them into an omelette. Yes there are many ways to get kids to eat vegetables.

Gosh!! I've never heard of child/ren not liking potatos.

They will not eat mashed potatos or roasted potatos. They will eat fries.
