    Upset with Treehouse

I have a big problem with the new show's In The Night Garden and Yo Gabba Gabba!  I don't understand why Treehouse would air these show's on the same channel as there educational show's!  After the children sit and watch Barney (learning colour's, number's ect.), Dora & Diego (interactive show's), Timothy Goes To School (learning is fun, how to be a nice friend, sharing ect.) plus many more, to sit and watch a show that is nothing but babble, and nonsence!

I have 3 children.  They are 9, 6, & 3 year's old!  All of them have enjoyed Treehouse since they were babies!  I have never had any problem's with this station before!  I knew that it was one station that I didn't ever need to worry about what they were watching...untill now!  I find that my 6 year old will babble and talk like a baby after watching these program's!  Also my concern is that my 3 year old is starting school in September, and my husband and I are correcting her if she doesn't say her word's right (ie. "tookie" is "cookie").  As a parent I wouldn't even feel right letting my toddler watch these show's, because you are teaching them how to talk and use there word's, then they see a show of babble!  Not that I ever use my TV as a babysitter, and I'm now mad that I have to watch what they are watching, but I alway's had the piece of mind before that Treehouse was a great station for them to watch.  Now I make sure that if they are watching, I know when these show are coming on so I can turn the station before it start's!

The reason I am upset with Treehouse is, I sent them an e-mail thru their "contact us" about my concern's with these show's!  I then recieved a general e-mail back that had nothing to do with what I had talked about!  Out of frustration I then e-mailed them back...only to get the same letter back as I did the first time!

When I've neede to contact Treehouse , I too recieved the auto=generated e-mail. And normally the following day I got a responce from a member of the team dealing with my query of that time.

I guess that it depends on how busy the staff is before you get an indivual reply.

I understand that they could be busy, but it's been awhile!  When I sent the second e-mail it was about how the first letter back from them had nothing to do with what I had a problem with.  It was just a kicker to get the same e-mail back for the second time!  I have a friend who also sent Treehouse a e-mail...and she has still yet to hear anything back from them.  She hasn't even got the general e-mail.

While I agree that In the Night Garden may not be the best program on Treehouse, I think that people should refrain from casting stones before first taking a look at themselves.

Upon reading the post from Crystal about the lack of education provided in the program, In the Night Garden,  I noted several grammatical errors.

This post was about the lack of educational material provided in the above mentioned program in comparison to others in the long list of wonderful shows provided for our children.

In the post, the author mistakenly uses an apostrophe and "s" to make the words plural when a simple "s" is all that is required.....they also use the wrong "their" .  If it had occurred once or twice in the posting I could chalk it up to typing too quickly.  However, in my brief reading of the post, I noted 10 such errors.

Perhaps this parent should invest some time in educating herself, instead of complaining about the multitude of highly educational programming that is available on Treehouse.

Yes...the teacher is right!  I did have some mistakes in my writting!  But as I mentioned I have three children, I was typing and answering them at the same time, as well as being angry with Treehouse!  But when I last re-read my post...I was talking about how I don't like the show because it is nonsence and babble.  I wasn't writing an exam for a teacher!  If you were making a point of something...maybe you should try to do that without insulting people!  Because I mad a mistake in my writting, I don't have a right to state my thought's about a show for my children?  When I mad MY comment's about the show, I didn't expect someone to respond about my S's!!!!

Perhaps, if you feel so strongly about this, you could phone or send a letter as well.

I totally agree with this post.  Many of the new shows are, in my opinion, unwatchable!!  I will not let my 2 children (3 and 21 months) watch In the night Garden or Yo Gabba.  i wish they would bring back Dora, Diego, Thomas and Mighty Machines....at lease these shows had some educational component to them.

I also have shows on treehouse that my sons (2 and 8 months - not that the 8 month old watches it lol) either don't like or that I don't like them to watch. That being said, whenever one of these shows comes on, we put on a dvd or turn the tv off and listen to music and dance, or colour, or play with toys. Treehouse wouldn't keep shows on the no one likes so there must be some viewer response that is positive with these shows. I understand that there may be a group of people who don't like certain shows and people who do and being a television network they will always have differences of opinions coming to their attention.

The shows may also have a different target audience than the ages of your children. So that may be something to take into consideration. This is just my opinion. Have a great day!

FWIW Thomas,Diego and Mighty Machines are still on . Dora has been moved to two showings, both on Sunday.

And that's the way it should be. Not relaying on one resource more than another.

There are plenty of shows that have been or are on Treehouse that we don't/didn't like but I know that there are children out there who do like these shows.

My 10yo DD thinks ITNG is silly, DD2(6) likes the show and DS(3) loves it, though we aren't watching it that much due to the play-offs.

The night garden is fantastic for your child’s imagination a very healthy important part of brain development.  Not only that but a recent poll shows 25% of pollsters children find it their child’s new favorite.  Yo Gabba Gabba has had rave reviews (see CBC News Radio 1 ) and has important life lessons like sharing etc.  Although you may find it tedious to get through as an adult you should try looking at it through the eyes of a 3 year old.  Yo Gabba grabs your child’s attention with hip music which I am sure most children enjoy.  Just my point of view.

I personally, don't know any parent's that allow their children to watch these show's!  My other parent friends and I have been talking about the new program's for awhile now.  I do like to hear other people's opinion's on this.  It has made me re-think and look at them in a different way.  But I must say that I feel the same!  Other show's on Treehouse teach them the same things (imagination, feeling, sharing etc...) without the babble!
