    The International Cooking Experiment

Following last weeks attempt at moussaka, I've decided to go one better. While at the table we talked about Greek gods( thanks to Class of the Titans, the girls had a small amount of knowledge) and places in Greece.

I am now trying some other countries cusines. In the past i have produced Indian, Chinese ansd Italian feasts for the family. Now I am trying more exotic things.

This week is going to be Mongolian. I have several recipes . I am going to make noodles for the first time.

The girls are making decorations for the table and are learning some historical and geographical factsabout the area. I'm thinking of relearning Xanadu for the occasion.

Does any-one have any other suggestions especially if it can fit in with a significant date for this country to make it more of a learning experience for the girls.

I used to be such a sweet sweet thing

I'm not sure really. There are lots of different influences to it though.

There is a bigger reliance on beef than in Mexico. Though those were the recipies DH wanted to try.

Portuguese rather than Spanish, of course and more African types of dishes due to slavery.

After Egypt, we did Australia. We had good weather so I was able to use the bbq for a more authentic taste.

Last month, I tried to make Latkes. I went to the supermarket to buy a boxfull of instant Latkes. I didn't want to buy potatoes because it takes time so I got small package instead. It was so delicious.

I went to the library and picked up a Scandavian cookbook. I probably get Meditterean (is this how you spell) cookbook too.

Someday I will try to make tacos. I'll try any international foods.

We like to go to the international food festival in the summer and try out different kinds of food. We have gone every summer so far, the kids love it. I have tried to cook some foods from different countries like latkes, mousakka, and tacos.
