    Waybuloo

Just wanted to voice my opinion about the new age show Waybuloo.  As a Christian, I am disgusted with this show and the propaganda it presents - teaching kids to "meditate" and search for some nonsense.    How about teaching kids the Christian values this country was founded on.  How about teaching kids about true peace, true love and true happiness that is found in Christ Jesus!  Funny that overtly Christian shows like Veggie Tales are not on Treehouse, but New Age "hullabaloo" is okay on Waybuloo!  Anyone else think this show should go??

No, I don't think the show should go. I am the person whoteaches my children our family values, not the tv.

And another poster has the POV

Allthough I find it strange that these creatures float around and I can't understand everything they say I think it's silly how worked up people get.  The show seems harmless.  As a parent and a follower of Christ I believe it is my job to teach my children what I believe, not the job of any television program.  My husband is a pastor and I think he would agree with me.  There are all kinds of shows that teach about Santa and many other harmless things that aren't "christian" does this mean we shelter our children from everything?  I don't think so.

Of course I agree that I should be teaching my children our values...and I do!  I don't' let my kids watch Waybuloo or half the stuff on Treeehouse.  However, I think shows like this are a reflection on where our culture is - mindless airy fairy stuff inundating our kids and society.  As Christians I think we need to be leary of things that are "harmless", because they have more effect than we think.  I don't think that means I'm "sheltering" my kids.

Then what do you feel isn't harmless?

    Santa claus? Tooth fairy?

    Easter bunny?

Because my 3 children were introduced to these things in a Christian setting.
I didn't want them to be exposed. But culture, in both school and on tv makes them a large part of the local identity in Canada.

In this I'm speaking as an outsider. Only Father Christmas was part of my childhood experience.

When the children are "meditating" they are actually practicing a form of Yoga, which I consider to be part of a healthy lifestyle! I too am a Christian woman and have been raising my daughter to believe in Christian values. I also teach her to believe in herself and to live a happy and healthy lifestyle which includes a daily dose of Yoga. When Waybaloo comes on we enjoy doing the Yoga together and I see NOTHING 'un-Christian' about it! It's a shame when ppl have to turn a lovely and simple childrens program into something it's quite obviously not. I agree with the last reply....if you don't like it..turn it off:o)

Ok, you've got to be kidding me.  This is a great show for little kids.  It introduces them to yoga and a healthy lifestyle as well as how to deal with problems like not being able to do something and to not give up trying.  If you may have noticed, the "meditating" is nothing more than sitting quietly and relaxing....something that many of us can use in our daily lives.  Also, the yoga moves they show are things that kids do every day in gym class at school.  I, myself, can remember doing the "crab" and the "shell" in class which both strengthened the core and promoted flexibility.  Anyone who reads more into this show than there really is, is just looking for something that's not really there.  Try asking the kids what they actually see when they watch the show.  They don't see any religious undertones to the show.  They see some cute cartoon characters that float around and play hide-and-seek, etc. with some children as well as doing some fun exercises.  I think that if someone has a problem with this perfectly good show, they should either change the channel or turn off the tv.  Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean that you should ruin it for others who do like it.

Not trying to "ruin" it for others.  Of course, because I find the show offensive, I wouldn't let me kids watch it.  Just trying to get people to think about the OBVIOUS "New age" tone to this show.  I believe that we could all use some "quiet" time in our day - praying to a true God - not just thinking about ourselves.

I totally disagree with you! Waybuloo is an Excellent show! Yes children meditate and do yoga which keeps them active. And yes they do search for some "nonsense" as you called it but if you actually watched the show before you judged it purely on the fact that they do yoga you would know that they search for fruits to share with each other or they are playing peek-a-boo.  This show is excellent my daughter enjoys it  and so do I. It teaches kids about sharing, friendships, having a healthy lifestyle and having fun.  The music is very peaceful and if anything, the show needs more airtime and should be On Demand as well!  :)

LOL...did it occur to you, that maybe, just maybe not everyone is a Christian??? I like this show, it's cute, and it teaches children to have what we call in this society: and IMAGINATION! WOW!!!! HAHAHAHA. Sheesh!

I think that this show is cute, however I dont like it and neither does my son.  This is simply because they speak jibberish half the time.  My son learns nothing from it and cant understand a word they say. I would rather have him watching a show where he can understand the words they are using.

I love this show.  I am a very spiritual person and I teach my kids to be understanding, conceptual, respecting people, with open minds.  I myself practice yoga, so I find the show relaxing and find it fun to participate with them doing the poses.  I don't think this treehouse has proclaimed to be a "Christian" channel, I would actually be upset by Veggie Tales being on there, in my opinion Waybaloo is a neutral toned show, that no way inflicts a religious opinion on any one, just peace, relaxation and a cute way for toddlers to exercise, I know that meditation goes against christian belief, but what they are doing isn't meditation, it may be a silly show to you perhaps but for me its great, Veggie Tales however... the complete opposite, even though I find them cute and the moral good, I am not a Christian, so it would bother me if my kids were inundated with something like that on a daily basis.  Then again, I myself must be kind of "new age" for being a buddhist. :)  I think its an extremely important lesson for kids to learn about different lifestyles and ways of open thinking rather than close mindedness.  It teaches them to respect other peoples beliefs.  Namaste and have a wonderful week!

What's so wrong about the show? I am a Christian as well and I let my child watch this show. As others have wrote it's our job as parents to teach are children values not the t.v. And where in the Bible does it say that "yoga" or "meditation" is wrong? It's not like the animals a praising the devil or anything! Because of people like you that others think Christians are weirdo's, there's nothing wrong with watching other shows that are unChristian too as long as we remember God always comes first.

    Re: Waybuloo

I saw this program for the first time today and was immediately taken aback by the content.  As a Catholic  I was disturbed by the theme and changed the channel.  I think that this is one of those issues where those of us who are disturbed by the program all understand why it is so upsetting, and those who see no harm can't possibly understand what we would see wrong with it.  I understand the "aw come on it's just a harmless show for kids" argument because at one point in my life I also felt the same way.  What others need to recognise is the "death by a thousand cuts" attack that Christianity suffers from.  I, and I'm sure others don't feel that by watching a few episodes of a t.v. program that our children will abandon their faith, but that is not the point.  It is the piling of straw upon straw that eventually breaks the camels back.  Society as a whole assaults all of our children with many values and ideas that we as parents do not share.  As responsible parents it is our job to communicate and reinforce our  values in our children, and as for me, this show reflects concepts that I cannot support.  It is not my intention to change anyone's mind on this subject, just to perhaps better explain where we're coming from.

I allow my daughter to watch this show. As long as it doesn't encourage violence, I think diversity is good, no matter what religion you are.
